The fine art of the “Thank You” card for respect and appreciation

When you look around you, almost everything these days is digital. Mailing letters seem to be a thing of the past. The older generation appreciated letters and kept them for years to cherish, something we don’t really do with emails. There is nothing quite like a letter written by hand to let someone know that they are important to you. These days it’s too easy to write a fast email, a text, or even just a fast post on Facebook to let people know you are thinking of them. Social media has lost a lot of the heart of what it really means to be social and friendly.

Thank_You!

You can still make a lasting impression on people without having to write a long letter, by just sending thank you cards in the mail. This is still traditional in the wedding world, but really, it should be used for so many other things as well. When you let people know that they are important to you, it gives you a bigger step up in respect than any email ever could. A thank you card shows people that you have made the effort to do something special for them and taken your valuable time to do it.

Getting thank you cards

There are many places you can get thank you cards, but we feel the best is to get a custom thank you card and send it. A site called Basic Invite is a good place to start. They have a huge variety of cards as well as the ability to customize them to your heart’s content. They have almost unlimited colors, which we find is a wonderful feature when you are matching a brand or a theme. They will also send you a single printed card as a proof, so you can see what it looks like before you order a larger quantity. They even have a handy address collection service which you can use for free to collect all the addresses. With over 1500 thank you card designs, and the ability to customize them, this makes it the go-to place for thank you cards.

When to send them

The most common thank you card is sent after a wedding. This is ingrained in tradition, as it should be. Though you can send thank you cards for almost anything where someone has given you a gift or given you their valuable time. Any time you find yourself wanting to say thank you to someone, you should think of how they would react if you took the time and sent them a thank you card. We think a thank you card is most definitely required anytime someone gives you a present, whether it is a wedding present, shower present, or just a present for no reason. You should send the card out within 2 days and no later than a week.

How to write them

First and foremost, you must write them by hand. Do not just send the card with thank you printed in it. The point here is you are showing them you are taking the time to do something personal for them. The most basic instructions are address the recipient appropriately as by how well you know them, such as “Hi Jim” or “Dear Mr. Smith”. Next a simple opening thank you such as “thank you for the lovely present” followed by a comment such as “We will use this and remember you always”. The last part is just a simple thank you and your name. Keep it simple, warm, and polite, and you can’t go wrong.

We cannot emphasize how important thank you cards are, and we mean this across all walks of life. Just remember to make the effort and write it yourself. You will be amazed at the response you get from this. Bring back some style to the world. So yes, definitely send them for a wedding, but also yes for anything else that you want to thank anyone for. Once again, the older generation had the right idea. Thank you.
