More in Liverpool than Grand National

The Grand National might be a big event in Liverpool, but there more to the place than that

It is often forgotten by many that the Grand National is held in a city that has much more to it than just the famous horse racing event, with the Aintree course only adding to the cultural wealth Liverpool holds.

An event that began as one of horse racing’s best loved has turned into something much bigger, with punters and fans coming from all over the world and descending on Liverpool for the huge three day festival – which culminates with the big race – each Spring.

With so many people coming for the Grand National there’s always the possibility that the more casual fans may get slightly bored with the fare on offer before the big race, which is why the first two days of the festival is an excellent time to see the city of Liverpool.

It’s the city that gave birth to The Beatles and Liverpool and Everton football clubs so if sport and music appeals to you there’ll be plenty to do and see before having a look at those Grand National Odds and choosing your winning horse.

The Grand National, like horse racing itself, is an event steeped in betting tradition and to get all the best Grand National Odds Bookies.com is the perfect stop. As well as news, there’s the latest odds on not only the Grand National but a host of other races and sports along with plenty of previews, tips and free bets.

But before you put those bets on, the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool is where The Beatles played their very first gig and it is often a fine place to enjoy some drink and music, with the Walker Art Gallery not too far away either if your cultural tastebuds need awoken more.

Football fans the world over know of Liverpool’s two Premier League clubs and with the Grand National kicking off on a Saturday evening, it’s unlikely that you’ll get to enjoy both but if either team had a midday kick-off or were playing on a Sunday, then why not extend the stay to take in the famous surroundings of Goodison Park or Anfield.

But lets not stray too far from the task at hand, which is those people coming from far and wide to attend the famous Grand National festival, and the race itself which has been running since 1839.

It is a race that captures the nation with punters checking out the Grand National Odds to see if they can find that big winner, something which can happen in a race as volatile as the Grand National. In the last ten runnings, there has been winners of 100/1, 66/1 and 33/1 (twice). If you don’t get that big winner on the day, fear not – Liverpool has plenty more to offer once the racing’s finished.
